Welcome to After Action!
Are you:
Researching a military ancestor?
Planning to visit your ancestors war grave?
Interested in the battles of the two great wars of the 20th century?
Do you want to see where and how they were fought?
The two major global conflicts of the 20th Century are now passing out of living memory and truly into history. These wars played a major part in the moulding of countries and their citizens around the world. No more so than within Europe. With conflicts between neighbouring nations almost non-stop, Europe had been a troubled continent for many hundreds of years. Culminating with the Great War of 1914-1918, unquestionably the most horrific war up to that date and one which was commonly perceived as the 'war to end all wars'.
Sadly this was not to be, with the outbreak of the Second Great War in 1939. Once again the world's nations were locked in conflict across the globe.
During both conflicts, Europe bore much of the pain and destruction. From Norway to Italy, Great Britain to the Russia, there was no country left unnaffected by war.
With the passing of time, war should never be glorified, but should be understood and most of all REMEMBERED.
It is in this latter aspect which After Action Battlefield Guiding provides the service of a Guide to individuals and groups wishing to visit historic WW1 & WW2 battlefields in Western Europe. Our aim is not only to show the battlefield site, the reasons why a particular battle was fought, but to offer insights into what it was like for the soldiers generally and for specific soldiers when requested.
